The Electrical Installations Safety Initiative is conducted in Mecca for 25 days by the General Administration of Civil Defense in partnership with Salim, the approved inspection and testing company, targeting a number of establishments of different activities, including health facilities, schools, public squares, lighting poles, mosques, hotels, pilgrims housing buildings and private residential buildings. 
The initiative aims to raise preventive awareness of the importance of the safety of electrical installations and identify the observations that may cause fire accidents due to poor implementation of the installations and non-conformity with safety requirements and quality specifications. 
A number of governmental bodies participate in the initiative - such as Education Department, Health Affairs, Endowments and Mosques Administration and Tourism Authority, as well as volunteers from Umm Al-Qura University - in examination and testing works under the supervision of the approved company, Salim, to acquire the necessary skills and contribute to raising users awareness of electrical risks and enrich their knowledge.
